I'll be reading your Module 6 journal entries today and tomorrow.

Friday, June 21, 2019

Just over two weeks left in class.

Most of you are keeping up with the schedule and some are even well ahead.

There are no more hard due dates for tests until the end of the term, so be sure to maintain your resolve. The last four modules become a little more technical and demanding of your time and attention.

Friday, June 14, 2019

I will be reading Module 4 journal entries tomorrow.

Module 5 advised due date is Sunday (though a better plan is to finish tomorrow so you can enjoy Father's Day with your dad :)

Tuesday, June 11, 2019

Module 4 test due tomorrow,

All module 3 journal entries are graded.

Steady as they go.

Monday, June 10, 2019

Module 3 journal entries will be graded by tomorrow.

The advised due date for Module 4 test is Wednesday.

If you are staying on pace, then a week from today you will be 1/2 finished with this course.

Today is the last day to drop!

Thursday, June 6, 2019

Module 2 journal entries are due today.

We have now entered a dangerous point in the course for people who have trouble setting their own schedules, as Module 6 is the next hard due date for tests.  Please stay on task and resist any temptation to relax.

I will not approve drop requests after Monday June 10th.

Friday, April 19, 2019

Don't forget to turn in your Module 10 journal post by midnight tonight.

Final grades will be submitted by Monday or Tuesday.

Hope you enjoyed the class!

Wednesday, April 17, 2019

Today is the last day to sign up for a module test re-take.

Tomorrow is the formal end of the term and the last day to take any module test.

Friday is the due date for your Module 10 journal entry.

Saturday, April 13, 2019

Module 9 journal entries are due today.  I will read them on Monday or Tuesday and provide written feedback. Your Module 10 entries will receive a grade, but limited, and possibly no written feedback.

Sign up here for your optional module test retake. Please be aware that you will receive the grade you get on this retake, so do not take a test casually. You must sign up by Wednesday.

The last day to take a test is Thursday.  You have until Friday to finish your Module 10 journal entries. Please remember that your journals will be submitted to Turnitin.com.  Please make sure you are aware of what occurs if plagiarism is detected at that time.

Tuesday, April 9, 2019

I'll be reading your Module 8 journal entries today and tomorrow.

The end of the term is approaching quickly! Module 9 test advised completion date is this Friday.

Thursday, April 4, 2019

I will be finish grading your Module 7 journal entries tomorrow today.

Friday, March 29, 2019

I will be grading Module 6 journal entries tomorrow.

Less than 3 weeks left in the term!

Sunday, March 24, 2019

I will be grading Module 5 entries tomorrow.

You have a hard deadline for Module 6 coming up on Wednesday. By now you know that you must take tests in sequence, so it is not an option to skip ahead to Module 6. For anyone who is seriously behind, the best strategy is not to rush through preceding modules in order to take Module 6 by the deadline. The best strategy is to stay on course and make the adjustments that are necessary to get back on course. If you miss the Module 6 date, you still have the opportunity to retake one test at the end of the grading period.

Wednesday, March 20, 2019

I am done grading Module 4 journal entries.

Today is the advised due date for the Module 5 test. Module 5 journal entries are due tomorrow.

Saturday, March 16, 2019

Module 4 journal entries are due today. I will grade them by Tuesday or Wednesday.

Tuesday, March 12, 2019

Today is the late period for the Module 3 journal entry.

Remember that module entries (or any portion of them) done within the 24 hour late period must be written in blue. These are eligible for up to half credit.

You can not get credit for journal entries done after this point.

Thursday, March 7, 2019

I'll be grading Module 2 journal entries tomorrow.

Although all journal entries have hard due dates, the next hard test due date is Module 6 on the 26th of this month. This makes it a particularly dangerous period for people who have difficulty with time management. Try your very best to stay on or ahead of the advised testing schedule.

Monday, March 4, 2019

Tonight is the hard due date for Module 2!

If you are behind, please refer to the previous post for advice concerning an intelligent catch-up strategy.

Thursday, February 28, 2019

I have removed the journal sign-up link. If you have not yet signed up for a journal, you may still do so by e-mailing me directly. In the subject heading write "125 Journal sign-up". In the body of the email write your first and last name and your @gmail or another email that is registered with Google.
I should have your Module 1 journal entries graded by Saturday.

You should now all be working on Module 2. If you are behind, remember that Module 2 has a hard due date, and you can not get to the Module 2 quizzing and testing materials before completing Module 1.

If you are very behind due to a late start, I do not recommend rushing through 1 in order to get to 2. Take the time to do well on the Module 1 test. If that causes you to miss the Module 2 test date, that is not necessarily catastrophic, since you can re-take one test at the end of the term.

Wednesday, February 27, 2019

Tomorrow is the end of the first week of the term.

Module 1 journals entries are also due tomorrow. Remember, you can turn in journal entries up to 24 hours late, but they must be identified as late by writing in blue text. This applies to any part of the entry made during this period.

Monday, February 25, 2019

So, you may be thinking of this as the first day of class, but if you are used to the 15 week semester and you do the math you'll see we are already the equivalent of a full week into it.

Please sign up for your journal right away. The first hard deadline is for the Module 1 journal entry, Thursday of this week.

Write me with any questions or concerns, but be sure you have carefully listened to the (admittedly very boring) orientation video. 90% of all questions I receive are answered there.

Friday, February 22, 2019

Ok, folks, we are live as of last night. Please watch the orientation video in Canvas and try to be done with the syllabus test by the end of the day. E-mail me with any questions.  I will normally answer them quickly, even through the weekend. (Though anything sent after about 1PM today will probably not get answered until this evening.)

Please read everything below and sign up for a journal right away.

Tuesday, February 19, 2019

Hi, if this is your first time here, please read the post below. This course will go live Thursday evening, but all instructional materials are available for you now. Canvas is used for quizzing, testing and grade storage, but all instructional materials are delivered from my website.

Be sure that you get the 2nd edition of Worldviews, by Richard DeWitt, not the 1st or 3rd.

There is a syllabus test for this course, which you must pass at the designated level before proceeding to take any quizzes or tests. Study it carefully now and it should be a breeze. If you require multiple attempts to pass this quiz, this should be an alarm bell signifying that your current study habits are not commensurate with the demands of this course.

Remember, this is an 8 week course. We cover all of the material of the 15 week course in a bit over half the time.  Study the study schedule and make sure you really have the time to devote to this class. One of the most common student course evaluation remarks is: I really enjoyed this class, but it was much more work than I expected, even given the instructor's warnings.

Please note that drops after the first week are not permitted.
